Celebrating America and all that the nation stands for is common during the warmer months. Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day are all American holidays celebrated during the summer, and each one of these holidays is designed to highlight the accomplishments of the American spirit. To add to the celebration in 2022, Autocar, LLC has deemed July 2nd as Made in the USA Day. Autocar holds the title of being the western hemisphere’s oldest motor vehicle brand. Autocar is also a brand that is made in America, and the company is using July 2nd to encourage Americans to buy locally and shop American brands.

A History of Innovation

Autocar President Jim Johnston has stated that Made in the USA Day is also a time to tout the accomplishments of the Autocar brand. The company began making vehicles in America back in 1897, leading a legacy of innovation in vocational truck manufacturing for nearly 125 years.

In fact, Autocar’s “Autocar No. 1” is on display at the Smithsonian National Museum in Washington, D.C. This one-cylinder gas tricycle is believed to be the oldest American-made motor vehicle ever.

An Eye on America’s Future

As a manufacturer of severe-duty trucks, terminal tractors and a variety of cabover trucks, Autocar is a brand that is synonymous with working-class heroes in America. Many service professionals rely on Autocar vehicles across America, including linemen and cargo yard foremen. Given the brand’s history and its commitment to supporting the American dream, it is highly likely that Autocar will be around for another 125 years creating new medium- and sever-duty trucks for American workers.
