James informed everyone present about the many benefits of using such Mack refuse trucks as the GU713, GU813, LEU613, and MRU613 lines; as well as the advantages of Mack’s SCR, M7/M8 engines, and the many other benefits that Mack Trucks can offer local government and other large refuse fleets.
Nick then spoke more in depth about the advantages of the TerraPro Natural Gas line of trucks and emphasized the cost savings that could be realized by converting to these trucks. He also covered Mack’s warranty and extended warranty programs and the various purchasing cooperatives available in the State of Arizona.
Merle also gave a presentation on the line of refuse bodies they can provide at Dadee Manufacturing, an ASL company located in Phoenix, AZ who manufactures the Scorpion line of ASL that’s specially designed to stand up to heat of the Arizona deserts.
The Refuse Day luncheon was well received by the representatives from twelve area municipalities and one of the local refuse businesses. Once the lunch and presentations were completed, attendees were given the opportunity to watch a demonstration of the capabilities of a decked out LEU613 complete with a Dadee Scorpion ASL body installed. The demonstration was a huge success and went a long way towards completing the Refuse Day’s goal of helping to expand Mack Truck’s presence in the Southwest.

| SCR - Selective Catalytic Reduction - Wednesday, October 13, 2010

What is it?
Selective Catalytic Reduction is Mack and Volvos chosen technology to produce high performance, fuel efficient engines while reducing environmental impact by delivering near-zero emissions as required by 2010 EPA regulations. There is a lot of information, as well as mis-information, out there about SCR. We can help you sort it out.

Vanguard Truck Centers has invested nearly half a million dollars in SCR demonstrator trucks, diagnostic and testing equipment, training, and education programs. Please contact our New Truck Department at any Vanguard Truck Center location. Our trained Sales Consultants will be happy to answer your questions and review the benefits of SCR technology from Mack Volvo.

Vanguard Truck Centers embrace Video Communication Technology
Going 'GREEN', Maintaining face to face communication and reducing cost at the same time
Vanguard's senior management team understands the value of face-to-face communication with dealership personnel across the country. While monthly travel for executives to hold meetings was very valuable, it was also a drain on time and money.
In accordance with the Vanguard mission and values for leading trends and ingenuity, Vanguard implemented Lifesize video communications. It's been a great success. In addition to camera based face to face high definition video, the system also allows 'on screen' computer desktop presentation for report review during meetings, as well as computer based training presentation.
In addition to the cost savings, it is estimated that Vanguard saved over 135,000 lbs of CO2 in 1 year just by reducing travel.
